Derby CVS runs a Volunteer Centre which provides a
variety of services:
- Every year, we meet more than 600
prospective volunteers of all ages and backgrounds who are interested
in volunteer placements with local organisations. Volunteering is a
great way to get experience, fill a few spare hours, meet new people
and develop some new skills. Do you want to become a volunteer? We can
help you find the voluntary work that suits you. We run a drop-in service
on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm.
Come in and chat with one of our Volunteer Centre Advisers, or call
them on 01332 342272. Alternatively, you can check out all of our volunteering
opportunities on the do-it
website, and if you see something you're interested in you can register
your details there and then.
- As a volunteer you can get training.
Organisations will train you in the specific role you plan to take;
you may even be able to get accreditation such as an NVQ or an OCN qualification.
You can also attend general volunteering training at the Volunteer Centre.
The volunteers training covers roles and responsibilities, confidence
building and health and safety. For more information or to enquire about
places contact Derby CVS on 01332 346266. We also run various training
courses on a variety of subjects click
here for more information.
- As part of our annual Christmas
meals appeal, volunteers deliver meals on Christmas day to
older people living alone in the community.
