A Derby Compact 'Getting it
right TOGETHER in Derby' - how you can get involved
The Derby Compact was launched in 2001 and the Derby Compact
Forum was launched in November 2003.
The Forum includes nine representatives from both Derby
City Council and Derby's voluntary and community sector.
The purpose of the Forum is to take forward the principles
of the Compact and make sure they're delivered locally.
At the last meeting of the Derby Compact Forum on 22nd May
2006 representatives agreed to build stronger working relationships between
the voluntary and community sector reps and Councillors with Cabinet responsibilities
and also agreed the draft Code of Good Practice specifically for Volunteering
and BME
organisations in Derby. Both Codes are out for consultation from 24th
May to 1st September 2006.
The Syndicate Group is seeking new members, so if you would
like to get involved, and want to find out more see the contact details
at the bottom.
These Codes help to ensure that local voluntary groups and
Derby City Council have a set of shared commitments on ways to encourage
more opportunities and more people to volunteer and break down some of
the barriers to BME organisations getting involved in policy development
and service delivery.
The Compact Forum Working Group will use the information
gathered from the consultation to refine the documents and their Action
Plans for the coming year.
A Funding
Code has already been produced which includes important details such
as the publicising of Derby City Council funding streams, how the funds
are used and how decisions are made.
