Learning and Development:

Adult Learning Inspectorate : reports on the quality of education and training received by adult learners and young people in England and is responsible for inspecting all publicly funded work-based training for people over 16 and learning for post-19s.

Derby City Council - Adult Learning Service : providing high quality education for adult learners.

Derby College : formed by the merger of Derby Tertiary College: Wilmorton, Mackworth College: Derby and Broomfield College. The new College has three main locations as well as numerous outreach centres in and around Derby and offers over 1,000 courses.

Charities Evaluation Service : aims to help charities become more effective and efficient.

Incomes Data Services (IDS) : information on a range of employment-related areas.

Information Commissioner : provides information about data protection, record management and how to register.

Interchange Trust (Legal and Training Service) : provides legal and financial advice to charitable and voluntary organisations on issues such as charitable registration, company formations, employment, service level agreements and legal responsibilities of trustees. Also provides training on these subjects.

LASA Knowledgebase : online guide to information technology for the voluntary sector run by the London Advice Services Alliance.

Access Funds : provides the latest funding information from Central Government, the National Lottery, devolved governing bodies, the EU and quangos.

Allavida : an international non-profit organisation that aims to provide the resources - funding, skills and information - that people and organisations working for the development of their communities need in order to achieve their own objectives.

Allen Lane Foundation : a grant-making trust that supports general charitable causes.

Association of Charitable Foundations (ACF) : the UK's national support organisation for grant-making trusts and foundations of all types.

Big Lottery Fund : funding from the National Lottery to good causes.

CEFET : the East Midlands voluntary sector technical assistance body that helps organisations to understand, access and manage European funding.

Charities Aid Foundation : provides advice to donors and charities on all aspects of tax-effective giving and runs the UK's largest payroll giving scheme, Give As You Earn.

Charities Information Bureau : supports voluntary organisations and community groups in funding their work and supports funding advisors and agencies in giving funding advice.

Charity Bank : registered charity that is also licensed as a bank, providing affordable loans and financial support solely for the voluntary sector.

Community Fund : one of the bodies set up by Parliament to distribute money raised by the National Lottery to support charitable or voluntary groups.

Derbyshire Community Foundation : a sustainable and independent source of funding for voluntary community action across the county that doesn't rely on public funds.

European Social Fund : information on sources of funding for activities to develop employability and human resources

Cabinet Office : providing support to Government strategy, particularly in the priority areas of education, health, transport and crime and asylum.

Community Development Foundation : a public body that aims to pioneer, study and promote new forms of community development, and strengthen communities by ensuring the effective participation of people in determining the conditions which affect their lives.

East Midlands Development Agency (emda) : one of nine regional agencies, created to mark the most significant ever devolution of power from central Government. The agency's brief includes job creation, skills improvement, increasing competitiveness and attacking social exclusion.

Government Office for the East Midlands (GOEM) : one of nine Government Offices delivering central government programmes in the English regions. Based in Nottingham, the office brings staff from many government departments together under one roof to act as the voice of the Government.

Neighbourhood Renewal Unit : part of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for narrowing the gap between deprived neighbourhoods and the rest of the country.

Social Exclusion Unit : set up by the Prime Minister to work on specific projects that aim to tackle social exclusion.

NAVCA : the national voice of local third sector infrastructure in England.
